“The Way Of The Lord: “You Have To/Get” vs. I Will Cause You….”

Too often times, we look throughout the Bible and interpret what has been written in terms of what we “have” to do or “get” instead of what the Lord would CAUSE US to do. There were numerous examples in the previous article of how the Lord was speaking to us (i.e. “I will make you”, “I will give you”, “I will establish”, etc.). But, because of our religious ways, we take what we hear the Lord say and think that “God” wants us to do this, and do that, and so on….

Here’s a thought: As we who have His Spirit already know, whenever He speaks something, it’s always according to a pattern, and the pattern is that HE WILL DO THE WORK (and this is ALL OF IT, not just some of it….), instead of us. The actions that we perform are as a RESULT of what He said (which is faith…). But because we all have a “religious complex” (of some level) inside us, we hear what He says, or read the scriptures in the Bible and then believe that when He speaks something to us, we automatically (and subconsciously!) assume that what He said is what WE have to perform (i.e. “trying”), when, instead it is Him performing His own Word inside us!….

What happens when we “try” to live according to His Word? Well, look around: We first think that we “know God”, at which time we start saying that we have got to “go get our inheritance”, or get filled with the spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues, or start telling people to “try Jesus”,or that “I made it”, or “I’ve got my mind made up”, or “God said this…”, and so much more. (If you look around, you’ll notice that an entire religious industry has been built up and sustained (for now!) just from what people THINK they know about Him, and what they “try” to do for Him….)

But on the other hand, what happens when we allow Him to CAUSE US to do what He said? Well, first we give Him praise and worship. Then, our vocabulary changes (instead of saying, “help, help, help, help, help….” baby language; LOL….), and we stop acknowledging Him as “God”, but instead as the LORD. The entire world is seen differently. Our thoughts become WORDS unto Him. Our prayers/communication to Him changes (i.e. telling the Lord what He said instead of praying according to our situations). Although we may be in the same situation (i.e. still at the same workplace, or dealing with the same family members, etc.), we see it DIFFERENTLY than before (i.e. the situation doesn’t control us; He does….). We rely on Him all the more to sustain us and keep us on a daily basis. We learn of the “big picture” of what the Lord is going to do in the earth. The book of Revelation becomes clear to us (!!!), etc., etc. Now keep in mind that THIS HAPPENS OVER TIME, and not overnight. The Lord purposed to do it that way (i.e. in a progression) so that people can see us being changed IN THE MIDST of all that’s going on….

The point of this article is simple: The Lord has to quicken and strengthen us to do what He said (Ezekiel 36:27). Again: The Lord has to quicken and strengthen us to do what He said. Again: The Lord has to quicken and strengthen us to do what He said. I know I said that three times (and that’s not a typo; lol), but that is so important! We can NEVER attain perfection (i.e. maturity) or live up to His Word in our flesh; it’s only the Lord Himself IN US that, over time, matures us (Colossians 1:28). It’s not, “You have to…”, but instead, “He will do…”

Enjoy the ride!!!
